06/04/06 - 'Mad for tar' seems
to sum up interest in this year's KBB Doors Tour
of the Sperrins Rally. With regulations only available
for two weeks, already 80 entries have been received.
Entries close on 6 May so demand for the 120 places
on this year's event is going to be high.
Eugene Donnelly, the biggest name in Irish rallying
at the moment, has already submitted his entry
for what is his home event. On this occasion,
Eugene will be navigated by the very first Sperrins
Clerk of the Course, Paddy Toner, who usually
sits with Charlie Donnelly. By all accounts, Charlie
drew the short straw for this one!
Many of the Northern Ireland Championship regulars
have still to submit entry forms but entries have
been received from Group N man, Martin Elliott,
and two wheel drive expert, Rodney White.
Other notable entries to date include Glenn Allen,
Camillus Bradley, Alistair Cochrane and Richard
Hogg.
With eight closed road (all tarmac) stages, totalling
44 stage miles, the event is shaping up to be
a classic! Log on to www.tourofthesperrins.com
